As soon as we walked through the doors of Lucy Cooks we were immediately taken by the homely atmosphere. After registering and receiveing our course details we were ushered into their dining room where our fellow classmates were already sitting around a long oak dining table enjoying coffee with freshly baked scones, definately a great start to the day and a lovely way to get to know everyone.
After a short presentation about what to expect during the day, our chef for the day Nick Martin came down to introduce himself and take us upstairs to their state of the art, extremely colourful kitchen classroom. For each dish we were about to learn, we were first given a demonstration by Nick and then sent off to our individual kitchen units to try them out for ourselves. All done of course under the watchful eye of Nick and his lovely assistant chef!
So, we of course were there to learn how to cook some commen french dishes namely, Moules a la Bordelaise Starter, Normandy Chicken Main Course, Chicken Veloute Sauce, Velvet Chocolate Torte and my favorite Truffles. I have to say I was expecting this course to be quite difficult but I was pleasantly surprised at how simple each dish was.
This is definite must do course for anyone who wants to learn to make a three course french meal in the matter of hours.
