Lunch at the newly opened Ambassade de l'Ile was truly a french delight. One I will never forget as I plucked up the courage for the first time to taste frogs legs! Served on a Mousseline of Scramble Eggs, I was amazed to find I loved them and they were nothing like I expected them to be.
As I sat and waited for my main course of Duck Breast with Soft Polenta to be served I couldn't help but feel in awe of the surroundings. It was quite heavenly in fact, with white leather chairs next to white linen decked round tables sitting on a deep plush aubergine carpet.
Dessert, Baba au Rhum Chantilly, was as a dainty, delectable delight washed down with my last mouthful of pink champagne which reminded me briefly why Marie Antoinette was so fond of cakes and champagne!
Attention to detail is obviously a priority for Chef Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex, who not only served the finest french food I've yet tasted but within the most exquiste surroundings and served by the most hospitable and unintrusive staff!
